ESP32-C series chips support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 (LE), with industry-leading RF and low-power features, comprehensive security mechanisms, and rich memory resources. Wi-Fi Single Live Wire smart switch based on ESP32-C series chips not only has low power-consumption and is easy to install, but also has superior Wi-Fi wall penetration and secure data transmission performance, enabling traditional switches to quickly achieve intelligent upgrades.
Advantages
Excellent Wi-Fi Performance
The smart switch needs to have excellent Wi-Fi anti-interference ability through the wall. ESP32-C series chips feature industry-leading RF performance with Wi-Fi RF receiver (RX) sensitivity of up to –98.4 dBm and Wi-Fi RF transmitter (TX) power of up to 21 dBm. When two ESP32-C series chips use Wi-Fi to communicate, the maximum communication distance can reach 500 m in an open environment and 20 m when crossing three walls, meeting the communication needs of daily home scenarios. What’s more, Single Live Wire smart switches equipped with the ESP32-C6 chip also support the latest Wi-Fi 6 protocol and its new features.
Cost-effective
Most smart switches are zero live wire switches, and indoor switch wiring usually has only one live wire, so it is difficult for traditional switches to achieve intelligent upgrades. ESP Wi-Fi Single Live Wire Smart Switch Solution greatly reduces the installation cost of the user's smart switch, allowing users to complete the installation without changing wires. ESP32-C series chips support Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 (LE), and users do not need to configure additional gateways, further reducing the cost and complexity of smart switches.
Ultra-low Power
With the advanced power management technology at the chip level and the integrated power management algorithm in ESP-IDF, the ESP32-C series chips dynamically adjust CPU frequency according to the application requirements, thereby reducing program running power consumption. In parallel, the chip's Wi-Fi processing and cloud-connection optimization strategies for different network environments make the switch's power consumption as low as 600-800 uA while maintaining the Wi-Fi connection, avoiding abnormal lighting in the circuit.
Security and Reliability
The security feature of embedded chips can protect connected IoT devices from malware attacks, which may pose a threat to data security. ESP32-C series chips have a comprehensive security mechanism supporting secure boot based on the RSA-3072 algorithm, and flash encryption based on the AES-128-XTS algorithm. Such a mechanism ensures the firmware security of smart switches by running only those applications that have been specified by users themselves. The hardware accelerator of ESP32-C series chips, then, support multiple encryption and decryption algorithms, thus protecting data transmission from malware attacks both on the local network and in the Cloud.
Cloud Platform Compatibility
ESP Wi-Fi Single Live Wire Smart Switch Solution supports the turnkey AIoT cloud platform ESP RainMaker®. The mobile APP of ESP RainMaker enables users to remotely control one or more devices with ease and jointly control with other members, as well as to manage a group or perform OTA upgrades. The solution also supports the integration of multiple mainstream public cloud platforms or rapid migration to the customer's own platform. Espressif’s product services provide pre-configured modules that can be securely connected to the cloud, simplifying subsequent production and registration processes for customers.
Matter
ESP32-C series chips support the new smart home IP-based connectivity protocol Matter, which allows devices to communicate with each other over a Wi-Fi connection. With the help of a Thread Border Router based on the Espressif SoCs, ESP Wi-Fi Single Live Wire Smart Switch Solution can directly control Thread devices without any APPs, cloud services, or other operations. Based on ESP32-C series chips, manufacturers can easily produce cross-ecology compatible and cross-platform communicable Wi-Fi smart switch products, which enable connecting with other smart home devices.
